MOST TATTOOED CITIES
Tattoos are everywhere. You not only see them on Angelina Jolie, Christina Aguilera and Pamela Anderson, but also the girl next door who is strolling the mall in that cute little tank top. Here are the Top 10 Most Tattooed Cities in the USA according to TotalBeauty.com:
- Miami -- Home to TLC's "Miami Ink" and the famous South Beach, this party town has about 24 tattoo shops per 100,000 people. You won't have to wander too far off the beach to get inked here.
- Las Vegas -- Sin City has 94 listed tattoo shops and is host to one of the largest tattoo conventions in the country. It has just over 16 shops per 100,000 people, most of whom are between the ages of 25 and 44.
- Richmond, VA -- This sleepy Southern city has a whopping 14.5 tattoo shops per 100,000 people -- and that doesn't even count the shops in the surrounding suburbs.
- Flint, MI -- Flint is home to a huge youth population, exactly the age group that is mostly likely to wear full sleeves of ink.
- Portland, OR -- Portland is known for its huge arts and crafts community, as well as its music-loving residents, nature-loving hipsters and collection of rock music icons. With 12 tattoo parlors per 100,000 people, it can also be said they love body art.
- Austin, TX -- This hip college town is increasingly accepting of tattooed individuals, especially since most of Austin's population is between the ages of 25 and 44. There are about 7.5 shops per 100,000 people.
- San Francisco -- Without even counting nearby Oakland or Berkeley, San Francisco boasts seven tattoo parlors per 100,000 people, coming out in the open after its underground status in the '60s as a haven for tattoo lovers.
- Honolulu, HI -- Living in paradise means showing some skin, so why not show it with a tattoo? If ink is your thing, Honolulu will help with 6.5 tattoo shops per 100,000 people.
- Kansas City -- Thanks to a burgeoning population of people under-30, along with more than 10 colleges and universities and a booming performing arts scene, it's not all that surprising that conservative Kansas City has about six tattoo parlors for every 100,000 people.
- Los Angeles -- With some 150 tattoo parlors within 10 miles of the city center, this is tattoo-central for the stars, including Angelina Jolie and Kat Von D. There are four shops for every 100,000 people.
